Andrea J. Lee is architect and general contractor for The Coaching Commons and Director of Strategic Development (a paid consultant) to The Harnisch Family Foundation. When Ruth Ann Harnisch invited Andrea to play on the team, her reaction was, 'This isn't the kind of invitation you say no to.' So she didn't. You may also know Andrea as author of 'Money, Meaning & Beyond' and 'Multiple Streams of Coaching Income.' She admits she is 'just a little crazy' when it comes to leveraging the power of coaching to do good in the world.

Seeking: Community Content Manager for The Coaching Commons

Are you new to The Coaching Commons and intrigued by what’s being created?  There are LOTS of ways to get involved, but one in particular right now that’s quite special.

The Coaching Commons is currently seeking a Community Content Manager for a part-time volunteer position.  This person will be part of the virtual Coaching Commons team, and report to The Harnisch Family Foundation.  Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Writing new posts in various topic areas of The Coaching Commons (TCC.)  Although topics will be provided, your ideas are welcome.
  2. Compiling and broadcasting an HTML-based newsletter for The Coaching Commons twice a month.
  3. Supporting the existing Coaching Commons content creators with the selection of topics and posting; recruiting new authors.
  4. Generating exposure for and conversation at TCC by participating in podcasts, curating comments, encouraging appropriate cross-links and promotions.
  5. Periodically facilitate Virtual Dialog calls on various topics.

This is estimated to be a 5-8 hour commitment per week, depending on your blogging and html skills.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who brings:

  • experience blogging and writing html newsletters
  • a natural affinity for critical thinking and asking questions
  • an understanding of relevant topics of concern in the coaching world
  • a willingness to learn what it means to be part of a philanthropic organization
  • a ‘coaching approach’ background

If you are interested in this role, the benefits include:

  1. Exposure for your name and presence.  The Coaching Commons has an aggressive traffic-generation plan and while you will not promote yourself overtly, your name will come to be associated with your leadership in this area.
  2. Opportunity to work closely with The Coaching Commons and Harnisch Family Foundation team.
  3. Platform from which to express, inform and lovingly provoke conversation and make a difference in the coaching world.
  4. Ability to network with leaders in the coaching field on behalf of TCC.
  5. Hands-on learning opportunity in the areas of philanthropy, coaching research, coaching nonprofits, social networking, virtual organization and management and marketing.
  6. A light, ease-oriented and empowered organizational culture that energizes you.

If you’re interested in this role, email andrea@andreajlee.com with your expression of interest and qualifications.  (Less than 1 page in MS Word, please…pasted directly into email is preferred.)   We appreciate you spreading the word to colleagues you feel might be interested.  Thank you in advance!

  1. […] They’re looking for a Community Content Manager (part-time, volunteer) – if you want to contribute AND get some great visibility in the coaching […]

  2. Wow! What a great opportunity for someone… and yet I’m wondering — 5-8 hours per week which in reading the description sounds conservative. Seems like quite a time commitment for one person, so just as an idea to share, what if there was a small team of people who took this own.

For example, I recently accepted an offer to do a weekly radio show for Exceptional Wisdom radio with the condition that I could have 4 of my Life On Purpose trained coaches as co-hosts, who would share in the research of our weekly guests — one co-host for each week of the month.

It’s the only way I could see taking on such a large commitment along with my other accountabilities. So, why not have a Community Content Manager team? Perhaps it won’t be necessary. If you already have dozens of qualified applications, simply ignore the suggestion.

  3. Hi Brad, that’s a great thought. We would definitely consider that.

The role is one that has immense flexibility and not all the items in the bullets would need to be done at all times. It’s just a starting point.

    Thanks for the great thought!

  4. You’re welcome, Andrea. Great to reconnect with you again as well. I’m still learning my way around the site here, and in the process found Chris Sanders when I clicked on Ruth Ann’s recent posting, but I can’t seem to find where he made the remarks so I can connect directly to his.

Wondering if posts could have not only the name of the poster and date, but a link that would take you directly to where another comment could be made. Anyway, Chris wrote:

“What I want to add to the mix is that my vision of coaching is not just about those of us who see coaching as our profession. For me, coaching is not a process, or a skill set, or an intervention; it’s an attitude of mind.”

And I concur wholeheartedly. I view what Chris is pointing to is the ‘beingness’ of coaching as distinct from the ‘doing’ of coaching as a career. With a little practice, anyone can be a coach, whether you’re being it with the people you manage, with your kids, etc.

And how would we bring that expanded possibility here? I believe that’s what you asked Chris?

Maybe it the simple place to start is by expanding the definition of who’s invited to participate to include anyone and everyone who is now bringing that mindset, that way of being, to the world, or who would like to, whether or not they are in the profession of coaching.

Just a few thoughts to add to the mix. Now, if I only knew how to connect them with Chris’ excellent post.

  5. Oh, and how do I get my gravatar to show up when I place a post??

  6. Hi Brad, it’s a treat having you here contributing to the mix. I see that you’ve figured out Gravatar, that’s awesome. :)

As far as your question, to respond to a comment, what you can do is click on the ‘more’ link under each comment in the sidebar at right. Once you’ve finished reading the comment, you can scroll down and directly underneath there you can comment back in the same thread.

So for example, in reading Ruth Ann’s comment that begins ‘As the founder,’ on Feb10, you can click on the ‘more’ link. She replied to Chris’ comment, so it’s all in the same thread and you just need to scroll down to become part of it.

    Hope this helps.

In passing - I notice that right now our search function isn’t including names of commenters, I’ll have that looked into, in which case you could just search for ‘Chris Sanders’ but hang tight…I’m sending this to tech support. :)

  7. Hi Andrea,

Got your mail, I see this site is another fantastic venture you have given time to.

Speaking of conections I bought your book almost 2 years ago now and it opened new areas for me.Since then from a knowledge search I bought Thomas Leonards 28 laws of attraction cd set. I loved it and it is really working for me. He was Irish, and I was suprised by this so I did some researach only to find that Thomas had passed.

I feel a really strong conection with him and his approach. I too am a coach an am amazed that you have sent me this site and one of the first things I notice is Thomas Picture.Long distance conectivity to both of you.I am very intersted in development and future of our art and profession.

    Thank you for that.

  8. Hi Brad,

I just increased the capabilities of the search functionality. So go ahead and search to your hearts content as it now searches posts, post authors, pages, pages authors, comments, comment authors, urls….the list goes on and on.

Here’s the direct link for search results for “Chris Sanders”: http://www.coachingcommons.org/?s=%22chris+sanders%22

For any other search fill in the search form on the right hand side under “recent comments” and above the “Coaching photo gallery”.

  9. Thanks Sandra,

This should be quite helpful to everyone as the site grows and grows.

    BRAD
