Virtual Dialog on World Changing: Some Pathfinders
In support of the Virtual Dialog on March 13th, I offer the following links. Each one represents an experiment in changing the world. More are being launched every day as a growing number of people around the world are seeking innovative ways to collaborate in addressing the issues we face. Any of these initiatives would benefit from coaching expertise just as coaches can draw significant inspiration in discovering their own legacies. May your imaginations soar and your feet get moving . . .
Acumen Fund — A non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches and patient capital to build transformative businesses and solve the problems of global poverty. We seek to prove that small amounts of philanthropic capital, combined with large doses of business acumen, can build thriving enterprises that serve vast numbers of the poor.
Be the Change Australia — An outgrowth of events sponsored by Sir John Whitmore and others in the UK in 2004/2005, this group offers facilitation training, innovative collaborative ventures, is based on coaching principles and is committed to the philosophy of “let 1,000 flowers bloom.”
The Hub — An incubator for social innovation. We offer membership of inspirational habitats in major world cities for social innovators to work, meet, learn, connect and realise progressive ideas. The Hub is a place for making things happen. All the tools and trimmings needed to cultivate an idea, launch a project, host a meeting and run a business.
The Point — A provocative platform for group action, helping people make things happen that they couldn’t accomplish alone. They provide an interesting and approach to galvanizing people around small actions that are meaningful to those involved.
Pachamama Alliance — Their mission is to preserve the Earth’s rainforests by empowering the indigenous people who are its natural custodians and to contribute to the creation of a new global vision of equity and sustainability for all.
World Changing — They work from a simple premise: that the tools, models and ideas for building a better future lie all around us. That plenty of people are working on tools for change, but the fields in which they work remain unconnected. That the motive, means and opportunity for profound positive change are already present. That another world is not just possible, it’s here. We only need to put the pieces together.
